Baseball Recap: LeFlore Takes a Loss

LeFlore had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-14 to make it 18. They lost 17-2 to the Cottage Hill Christian Academy Warriors. If the Rattlers were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in March of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Cottage Hill Christian Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games.

For Cottage Hill Christian Academy's part, Preston Munger made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Munger has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cottage Hill Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Ethan Womble, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave Womble a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayden David, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, LeFlore and Cottage Hill Christian Academy will both be playing Theodore the next time they take the field. The Rattlers will host the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Warriors will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
