Softball Recap: Katella Takes a Loss

Katella dropped their record down to 9-10 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 6-0 to the Buena Park Coyotes. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Buena Park, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8. Their pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

For Buena Park's part, the result came thanks to Mia Gonzalez's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks. Gonzalez has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lily Phillips and Layla Hinojos did most of the damage at the plate: Phillips went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Hinojos went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Katella will take on rival Valencia at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Buena Park is set to challenge their familiar foe Laguna Hills at 3:30 p.m. on the 25th.
