Basketball Recap: Shepherd Comes Up Short

Shepherd lost against Lame Deer back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Shepherd Mustangs took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lame Deer Morning Stars.

Semaj Bird-Killsnight continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lame Deer, going 9 of 19 on his way to 22 points along with eight boards and four steals. With that strong performance, Bird-Killsnight is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Kymani Fraser, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Shepherd's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Lame Deer, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Shepherd will take on Red Lodge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lame Deer has already played their next game, a 75-66 win against St. Labre Indian Catholic on the 14th.
