Volleyball Recap: D'evelyn Picks Up 19th Straight Win at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but D'Evelyn had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Stargate School Eagles with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in March.

D'Evelyn not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Stargate School between 18 and 20 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-18.

Jaziel Lagarda paced D'Evelyn's offense, picking up ten kills. Lagarda got some help from Tarin Cavanaugh and his 30 assists. Cavanaugh was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Loss or not, Stargate School got some senior leadership from Aavas Jha and Jonas Cecil. Jha had 20 assists and 11 digs, while Cecil had ten digs and one assist. Jha is crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 20 every time he's taken the court this season.

D'Evelyn's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-3. As for Stargate School, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-6.

As for Stargate School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Denver Waldorf on the 9th.
