Softball Recap: Cypress Lakes Takes a Loss

Cypress Lakes had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-16 to make it six. They lost 16-0 to the Bridgeland Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 back in March.

As for Bridgeland, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season. Give their pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

For Bridgeland's part, Lucy Sharon made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Sharon has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Addy Gibbons was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Lexie Mingle was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Cypress Lakes has already played their next game, a 16-1 loss against Langham Creek on the 15th. As for Bridgeland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Cypress Ranch on the 15th.
