Soccer Game Preview: Mid-Prairie vs. Maquoketa

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks will face off against the Maquoketa Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Mid-Prairie's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Mid-Prairie's offense. They lost 5-0 to Beckman on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Mid-Prairie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Beckman are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, Maquoketa strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against Bellevue by a score of 3-1. That's two games straight that Maquoketa have won by exactly two goals.

Maquoketa's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Mid-Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7-2.

Mid-Prairie was able to grind out a solid win over Maquoketa when the teams last played back in April of 2023, winning 2-0. Do the Golden Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
