Leavitt has gone 7-1 against Lincoln Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Hornets will take on the Eagles at 4:00 p.m.
Things were looking good for Leavitt after they put the first run on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Lake Region by a score of 7-6.

Ryder Sawyer-Brown put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Leavitt's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, John Oliver and Nick Mellen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Oliver got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI, while Mellen went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double was Mellen's first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln Academy). Everything went their way against Erskine Academy on Wednesday as they made off with an 8-1 win. Lincoln Academy not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10, 2024 (when they won 12-4).
Like Leavitt, Lincoln Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: AJ Giberson. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Giberson has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Hedrick, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Cotta, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Lincoln Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9-1. As for Leavitt, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Leavitt has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lincoln Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Leavitt came out on top in a nail-biter against Lincoln Academy in their previous matchup on May 9th, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
