Basketball Recap: Manor Mustangs vs. Stony Point Tigers
Manor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the Stony Point Tigers 118-44. The Mustangs lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 91-58 score last time.
It was another big night for Uzziah Buntyn, who went 9 for 14 from beyond the arc on his way to 51 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards for Stony Point. The dominant performance gave Buntyn a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Clemons, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points along with six steals and five assists.
Manor's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Stony Point, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Manor will be taking part in a tournament against Hendrickson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Stony Point, they will take on Putnam City West in a tournament on Thursday. Stony Point knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 games -- so hopefully Putnam City West likes a good challenge.
