Softball Game Preview: Maret Frogs vs. National Cathedral

The Maret Frogs will head out to face off against National Cathedral at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Maret has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Maret got the win against Foxcroft by a conclusive 24-11. Considering the Frogs have won three matchups by more than 12 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cleo Kraske was incredible, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Sterling, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and one stolen base.

Maret was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, National Cathedral was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They came up short against Potomac School, falling 10-0. The loss continues a trend for National Cathedral in their meetings with Potomac School: they've now lost nine in a row.

National Cathedral's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Maret, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Maret couldn't quite get it done against National Cathedral when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Frogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
