Softball Preview: Legacy Lightning vs. Longmont Trojans
After two games on the road, Legacy is heading back home. They will host the Longmont Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Legacy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Last Saturday, Legacy got the win against Boulder by a conclusive 13-3.
Kady Cosyns made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, she also racked up two hits, the mostshe's had since back in August. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-2 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Prisca Smolens was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Payton Jensen, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Legacy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boulder only posted a batting average of .280.
Meanwhile, Longmont lost 18-3 to Horizon on Monday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sydnee Conway was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Longmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
