The Broad Run Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Tuscarora Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Broad Run came out on top against Park View on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run second inning. The Spartans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Patriots a 12-0 shutout. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tuscarora). They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Rock Ridge on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Caleb Kim looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Kozikowski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Tuscarora is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Brett Majkowski was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Tuscarora hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Ridge struck out eight times.
Tuscarora has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Broad Run, their record now sits at 3-5.
Broad Run suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Tuscarora when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
