Baseball Game Preview: De Anza Dons vs. Saint Mary's Panthers

For the second straight game, De Anza will face off against Saint Mary. The Dons will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

De Anza is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Saint Mary's 10-9 on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Dons as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Ty Willson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Willson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Zion Shott and Ian Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Shott scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Garcia scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave Shott a new career-high. Chad Oakley also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

De Anza kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Saint Mary's is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13. As for De Anza, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-10-1.
