Baseball Recap: Pleasant Plains Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Pleasant Plains rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Athens Warriors. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won nine in a row.

Sean Lowder looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trager Shultz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Owen Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Pleasant Plains' victory bumped their record up to 29-7. As for Athens, they moved to 12-11 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Pleasant Plains has already played their next game (against Pittsfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Athens does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
