Softball Recap: Queen's Grant's Undefeated Season over After 13 Games

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last five games, Queen's Grant finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots by a score of 3-2. The match marked the Stallions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Addi Benton was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Benton wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Melissa Detweiler, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Queen's Grant fell to 12-1. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Queen's Grant didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 victory against Monroe on the 4th. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 25-0 win against Sugar Creek Charter on the 4th.
