Baseball Game Preview: Sage Creek Bobcats vs. Union Titans

The Sage Creek Bobcats will take on the Union Titans in a tournament on Wednesday. The last four games Sage Creek has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Sage Creek's tournament run continued when they took on La Costa Canyon on Tuesday. The Bobcats fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Bobcats have lost by just one run.

Max Biehl made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Sage Creek's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Henson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Union has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.13 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against Cathedral Catholic, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Titans have suffered since April 29, 2024.

Union saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Newman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Sage Creek now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Union, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
