Recap: Southside Christian Warriors vs. Neuse Charter Cougars
After a string of three wins, the Southside Christian Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 54-39 bruising from Neuse Charter. Southside Christian lost against Neuse Charter in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 89-51 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Southside Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Luke Boush. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Boush is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aiden Kunkel, who scored no points along with six steals.
Neuse Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayvin Bradley out in front who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Bradley has scored at least a third of Neuse Charter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Atkinson, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Southside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Neuse Charter, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southside Christian will take on Liberty Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Neuse Charter, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on North Duplin at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully North Duplin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Wednesday.
