Baseball Game Preview: Poly Bears vs. Cajon Cowboys

The Poly Bears will venture away from home to take on the Cajon Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last four games Poly has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Poly is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since March 8, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of La Quinta by a score of 4-2. The loss was the Bears' first of the season.

Jacob DeVincenzo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cajon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Beckman on Saturday.

Poly's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.43 runs. As for Cajon, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Poly suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Cajon in their previous matchup back in March of 2017. Can Poly avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
