After a string of four wins, Covenant Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 48-38 defeat to the North Central Thunderbirds.

Covenant Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vivian Haffner, who posted five points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Hoffman, who put up 11 points.

North Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jalyn Davidson, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 19 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Shelby Seay, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Covenant Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4. As for North Central, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2.

Covenant Christian will venture away from home to face off against University at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. As for North Central, they will host Lawrenceville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season.
