Esperanza hadn't done well against Canyon recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Esperanza put the hurt on Canyon with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Aztecs, who have now won three games in a row.

Esperanza's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. As for Canyon, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-5 record.

Esperanza and Canyon should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Esperanza will take on Sonora at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 236 places (151 vs. 387). Meanwhile, Canyon (ranked 74th) will meet Garden Grove (ranked 445th) at 5:30 p.m. on April 4.
