No. 5 Thompson (Alabaster, Ala.) opens Aug. 20 with Oxford and this might be the Warriors most talented team as they push for a third consecutive 7A state title in 2021.
No. 7 Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), No. 10 Collins Hill (Suwanee, Ga.), No. 17 Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.) and No. 22 St. Xavier (Cincinnati) also all get started this week.
No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) was scheduled to play Centennial (Corona, Calif.) on Aug. 20 but was canceled because of COVID-related health and safety protocols. These two along with Damien (La Verne, Calif.) will now take part in a three-team scrimmage as the Huskies don't have enough practice days logged.
No. 20 Servite (Anaheim, Calif.) also had its Aug. 20 game against Bishop Amat (La Puente, Calif.) pushed back to Sept. 9 and are looking for an opponent to play this week, otherwise the Friars will open their season on Aug. 26 against Mission Viejo (Calif.).
