Basketball Recap: Daniel Abbonizio's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Menendez over Atlantic Coast

Menendez was the 57-53 winner over Atlantic Coast when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons came up short against the Stingrays on Tuesday, falling 71-48.

Menendez's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Abbonizio, who shot 50% from the field en route to 13 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kareem Preston Jr., who posted seven points and six assists.

Joel Barnaby had a dynamite game For Atlantic Coast., going 7-for-13 to rack up 18 points and eight rebounds. Tarik Auguste was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Menendez's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Menendez didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-57 defeat against Matanzas on the 20th. As for Atlantic Coast, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-71 victory against San Jose Prep on the 20th.
