Baseball Game Preview: Bledsoe County Warriors vs. Marion County Warriors

Bledsoe County is 2-8 against Marion County since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Bledsoe County will challenge Marion County at 5:00 p.m.

Bledsoe County lost 15-2 to Stone Memorial on Thursday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Marion County entered their tilt with Lookout Valley on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Yellowjackets get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.

Luke Tipton and Eli Yell made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Tipton pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Yell tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tipton also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Marion County is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. At the plate, Tipton went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Yell scored a run while going 1-for-3. Those three RBI gave Tipton a new career-high.

In other batting news, Zade Pemberton was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Eli Blevins was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Marion County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .559 or higher in three consecutive games.

Marion County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Bledsoe County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Bledsoe County couldn't quite get it done against Marion County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can Bledsoe County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
