Recap: Riverside Chargers vs. Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack
The Riverside Chargers were the 57-50 winner over the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Riverside took a hard 46-32 fall against Elgin/Pope John on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Riverside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Elgin/Pope John is ranked 19th).
Riverside's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dane Schalk, who scored 10 points. Another player making a difference was Drew Carraher, who scored 7 points.
Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Elgin/Pope John, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully St. Mary's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for Elgin/Pope John, they will head out on the road to face off against Niobrara/Verdigre on Friday.
