Madison gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They won by a set and slipped past the Batesville Bulldogs 3-2. This was payback for the Cubs, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Madison wouldn't go down easily and took Batesville into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 15-12.

Brittan Neuman paced Madison's offense, picking up 12 kills. Neuman got some help from Audrey Miller and her 34 assists. Hannah Combs controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Batesville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Madison has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against New Albany on the 20th. As for Batesville, they will square off against Greensburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
