Volleyball Recap: Loyal Comes Up Short

Loyal was the 2-0 winner over Columbus Catholic when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Greyhounds came up short against the Dons on Thursday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Greyhounds have suffered since October 10, 2024.

Delia Trader was a one-woman wrecking crew For Columbus Catholic. as she had 24 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Trader is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game. Olivia Becerra also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.

Loyal now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Columbus Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-13 record this season.

Loyal and Columbus Catholic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Greyhounds will challenge Regis at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (226 vs. 43). Meanwhile, Columbus Catholic (ranked 94th) will meet McDonell Central (ranked 22nd) at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
