Baseball Game Preview: Sonora Wildcats vs. Pacheco Panthers

Sonora is on a six-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Pacheco a 12-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Monday, Sonora came up short against Ceres and fell 5-2.

Sonora saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremy Snyder, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Pacheco fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against River Islands on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Riptide by a score of 8-7.

Jacob Sancez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5.

Even though they lost, Pacheco was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Pacheco's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Sonora, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Sonora suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Pacheco in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Sonora avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
