The Lake Region Thunder will venture away from home to square off against the George Jenkins Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lake Region comes in on four and George Jenkins on three.
On Thursday, Lake Region got the win against Fort Meade by a conclusive 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Makenna Meadows made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Margaret Jenkins and Kirsten Aldridge did most of the damage at the plate: Jenkins scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Aldridge scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Jenkins has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Claritza Rosario also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Lake Region always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Meade only posted an OBP of .296.
Meanwhile, George Jenkins was able to grind out a solid victory over Lakeland Christian on Thursday, taking the game 7-3.
Layla Hinojosa looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Riley Pate was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Mathers, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Lake Region's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for George Jenkins, their record now sits at 9-6.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lake Region hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like George Jenkins struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lake Region skirted past George Jenkins 3-2 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunder since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
