Volleyball Recap: Hagerman Takes a Loss

Hagerman entered their contest against Oakley on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Pirates fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 3-2. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hornets earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Hagerman sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-16, 14-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-13.

Despite the defeat, Hagerman saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Payge Nyborg had 11 digs.

Hagerman's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 21-4. As for Oakley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hagerman is set to square off against their familiar foe Raft River at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Oakley will challenge rival Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
