Basketball Recap: Harlingen Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Harlingen extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Amaris Martinez. The Harlingen Cardinals breezed by the St. Joseph Academy Bloodhounds to the tune of 58-28 on Friday thanks in part to Martinez, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in boards (seven).

Harlingen is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for St. Joseph Academy, they moved to 8-4 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Harlingen and St. Joseph Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Harlingen (ranked 106th) will meet Edinburg (ranked 486th) at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Harlingen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season. Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy (ranked 395th) will meet Hanna (ranked 1180th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
