Baseball Recap: Bessemer City Comes Up Short

Bessemer City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons. The Yellow Jackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gryphons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Bessemer City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Short, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Bessemer City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at 12 games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-4 record.

While Bessemer City had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
