Volleyball Recap: Burlington Christian Academy Royals vs. Caldwell Academy

After flying high against Cristo Rey Research Triangle on Thursday, Burlington Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Burlington Christian Academy Royals took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Caldwell Academy on Friday. The Royals haven't had much luck with the recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Burlington Christian Academy took a 1-0 lead headed into the second set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-9.

Even though they lost, Burlington Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 19 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Caldwell Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stella Streng, who had 12 digs and four aces.

Burlington Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Caldwell Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Burlington Christian Academy and Grace Christian Academy will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Caldwell Academy, they will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Salem Academy at 5:30 p.m.
