Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Goreville

Goreville entered their tilt with Carrier Mills-Stonefort on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 14-1 victory. Considering the Blackcats have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lydia Kwiatkowski made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Addyson (Addy) Underwood was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elisabeth Trainor, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and two stolen bases.

Goreville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Goreville's record is now 7-9. As for Carrier Mills-Stonefort, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Goreville will head out to challenge Zeigler-Royalton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Carrier Mills-Stonefort, they will square off against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
