Volleyball Recap: Eaton Starts off Right with Win over Wilmington

Eaton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Wilmington Hurricane with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Hurricane recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Leading Eaton to victory were Ella Statzer and Maddyn Davis. Statzer had 17 digs and two aces, while Davis had five aces. Statzer is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

They weren't the only good server: Eaton was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in seven consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Wilmington now has a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eaton will venture away from home to face off against Talawanda at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wilmington, they will head out to square off against Batavia at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Hurricane their first taste of in-conference action this season.
