Volleyball Recap: Lehman Catholic Takes a Loss

Lehman Catholic came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Marion Local Flyers, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cavaliers of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Lehman Catholic was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Marion Local work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-11, 25-23.

Lilly Leininger paced Lehman Catholic's offense, picking up eight kills. Leininger got some help from Madison Rank and her 20 assists. Reese Hoskins controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Leading Marion Local to victory were Kendyl Hess and Kalyn Thobe. Hess had nine digs and three aces, while Thobe had five assists. That's the most digs Hess has posted over her last six matchups.

The loss snapped Lehman Catholic's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-5 record. As for Marion Local, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Lehman Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Miami East on the 23rd. As for Marion Local, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Memorial on the 23rd.
