Softball Recap: Marion Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Marion and Rural Retreat meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Scarlet Hurricanes fell just short of the Indians by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Scarlet Hurricanes have suffered since April 4th.

Marion has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Rural Retreat, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Marion will challenge Graham at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The G-Men have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.6 runs per game on average), something the Scarlet Hurricanes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rural Retreat, they will host Patrick Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
