Football Recap: Matoaca Takes a Loss

Matoaca played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 34-13 to the Louisa County Lions. The Warriors' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Matoaca still got an impressive performance from Trevion Mills, who rushed for 120 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. Mills' longest rush was for an impressive 67 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Joshua Beasley got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed seven in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Beasley, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Savion Hiter had an outrageously good game for Louisa County as he rushed for 265 yards while picking up 16.6 yards per carry.

Matoaca's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Louisa County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Matoaca wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 36-0 loss against Dinwiddie on the 26th. As for Louisa County, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-15 win against Fluvanna County on the 26th.
