After six games on the road, Lab University Prep is heading back home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Lee Park Prep Knights at 6:00 p.m. on February 19th. Lab University Prep will be strutting in after a win while Lee Park Prep will be coming in after a defeat.
On Sunday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lab University Prep beat NC GBB Academy 55-50. The win was just what Lab University Prep needed coming off of a 62-26 defeat in their prior match.
It was another big night for Makayla Minshall, who scored 30 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lab University Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kali Dancy, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Lee Park Prep was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 57-51 to Jackson Day. Lee Park Prep has struggled against Jackson Day recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Peyton Conway, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Viviana Nigro, who scored 17 points along with five steals.
Lab University Prep's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Lee Park Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.
Monday's match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Minshall and Nigro. Minshall has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 18.8 points and 1.2 rebounds. For her part, Nigro has averaged 17.5 points, 5 steals, and 3.5 rebounds.
