Recap: Pueblo Central Wildcats vs. Pueblo South Colts
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Pueblo Central Wildcats ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They managed a 58-54 win over Pueblo South. The victory was nothing new for Pueblo Central as they're now sitting on three straight.
Pueblo Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier Davis, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds. Davis is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ladamien Davis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Pueblo South lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maurice Austin. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. Austin is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. Sergio Salazar was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Pueblo Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Pueblo South, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Pueblo Central will head out on the road to take on Pueblo West at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pueblo West is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.9 points per game this season. As for Pueblo South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pueblo East at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Pueblo South is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Colorado (they are ranked 83rd, while Pueblo East is ranked 215th).
