Softball Recap: South Rowan Finds Playoff Glory Versus Southern Guilford

It's playoff time, and South Rowan had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Southern Guilford Storm by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday.

Remi Hagerty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Leisha Carter was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Cressley Patterson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

South Rowan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Guilford, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5.

Looking ahead, South Rowan will face off against Enka on Friday. The Jets will roll in looking for their 22nd straight victory, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight. Southern Guilford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
