Vienna skates past Zeigler-Royalton with ease

Recap: Vienna Eagles vs. Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes

The Vienna Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 23 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 83-31 win over Zeigler-Royalton at home. Winning may never get old, but Vienna sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Owen Treat was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The match was his 17th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Ethridge, who scored 16 points.

Zeigler-Royalton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was River Freeman, who scored nine points. Freeman scored a full 29% of Zeigler-Royalton's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Chase VanHoorebeke was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Vienna has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Zeigler-Royalton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vienna won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Goreville at 6:45 p.m. on January 6th. Goreville is on a three-game streak of home wins, Vienna a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Zeigler-Royalton, they will head out on the road to face off against Sandoval at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
