Basketball Recap: State College Wins Going Away Against Harrisburg

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely State College's strategy against Harrisburg on Friday. The State College Little Lions enjoyed a cozy 48-33 victory over the Harrisburg Cougars. This was a revenge game for the Little Lions: when they faced off against the Cougars back in December of 2024, they had to take a 65-53 defeat.

State College had a senior duo take command as Charlie Yartz dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds and Reed Melvin went 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points and six assists. The matchup was Yartz's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

The win made it two in a row for State College and bumps their season record up to 8-6. As for Harrisburg, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

State College will be playing at home against Greater Johnstown at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Greater Johnstown will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something State College surely won't give up without a fight. Harrisburg has already played their next game (against Wilson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
