Baseball Game Preview: Roxboro Community Bulldogs vs. Wake Prep Academy Guardians

The Roxboro Community Bulldogs will challenge the Wake Prep Academy Guardians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Roxboro Community turned things around against River Mill on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Jaguars a 12-0 shutout. The Bulldogs not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 27th.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wake Prep Academy). They put the hurt on NCSSM: Durham with a sharp 16-3 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Guardians brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Branden Sigman looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit.

On the hitting side, Garrett Watkins was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Ethan Hernandez was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Wake Prep Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Roxboro Community's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Wake Prep Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
