Basketball Recap: Nathan Lozano's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Live Oak over Mt. Pleasant

Live Oak suffered their closest defeat since January 17th on Friday. They fell just short of the Mt. Pleasant Cardinals by a score of 45-43. The Acorns were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 70-38.

Live Oak's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Lozano, who posted eight points along with five boards and five steals. That's the most steals Lozano has posted since back in January of 2024. Nathan Newberg was another key player, putting up six points.

Leading Mt. Pleasant to victory were Derrick Norfleet and Jordon Flagg. Norfleet earned 18 points, while Flagg had 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Flagg has scored at least a third of Mt. Pleasant's points. Another player making a difference was Mauricio Heredia, who put up seven points.

Live Oak's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-13-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Live Oak nor Mt. Pleasant have any future games scheduled.
