Baseball Recap: Waldron Comes Up Short

Waldron extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-7. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Decatur Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mohawks have suffered since May 10, 2025.

As for South Decatur, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games.

For South Decatur's part, their victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Drake Scaggs, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

While Waldron had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
