Baseball Game Preview: Winston County Yellowjackets vs. Cold Springs Eagles

For the second straight game, Winston County will face off against Cold Springs. The Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Winston County took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Cold Springs. The win was some much needed relief for the Yellowjackets as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Camden Smith tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Winston County is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Chris Clemons was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Garrett Lewis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Winston County's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Cold Springs, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-13 record.
