Football Game Preview: Sunrise Mountain Mustangs vs. Cactus Cobras + Official Tickets

Two dominant wideouts in Tanner Austin and Robert Bell are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sunrise Mountain Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Cactus Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sunrise Mountain will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, Sunrise Mountain was able to grind out a solid victory over Apollo, taking the game 33-21.

Cade Culley looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 160 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also punching in one rushing score. What's more, he racked up 136.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September.

Meanwhile, Cactus never let their opponents score on Friday. They breezed past West Point to the tune of 40-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cobras' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Dragons are ranked 127th).

Sunrise Mountain better focus on containing Nathaniel Linares and Luke Berlin as the pair were huge in Cactus' win. Linares gained 151 total yards and two touchdowns, while Berlin threw for 210 yards and a pair of TDs.

Cactus didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ryan Lavigne and Myron Lee.

Cactus' record is now 7-2. As for Sunrise Mountain, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Sunrise Mountain was dealt a bruising 53-0 defeat at the hands of Cactus in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
