Basketball Recap: Vanguard College Prep Comes Up Short

After flying high against Lodi Academy last Tuesday, Vanguard College Prep came back down to earth. The Vanguard College Prep Lions received a blow on Wednesday as they fell 79-62 to the Ben Holt College Prep Academy Bobcats. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Vanguard College Prep lost, don't look at Nathan Muriithi. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds Muriithi has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Mathew Prak, who posted 12 points.

Vanguard College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vanguard College Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Stockton Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vanguard College Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, they will challenge Aspire Langston Hughes Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
