Basketball Recap: Amari Dunson Key Part of Team Effort in Bulldogs Win

The third road game was the charm for South Delta, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They secured a 57-52 W over the O'Bannon Greenwaves on Tuesday. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 56-50 defeat the last time these two teams met.

South Delta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amari Dunson, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave Dunson a new career-high. Leroy Lindsey was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Several Greenwaves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cordario Calvin, who shot 47% from the field en route to 16 points along with five boards and five steals. Calvin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landyn Winters, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

South Delta's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for O'Bannon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

South Delta has already played their next contest, a 71-40 defeat against J.Z. George on the 20th. As for O'Bannon, they will challenge Coahoma County at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
