Baseball Recap: Linden Tigers vs. Plainfield Cardinals
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Elizabeth, Linden was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Plainfield Cardinals. The Tigers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024.
Jimmy Santa Maria and Armando Agusti were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Santa Maria pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Agusti struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. At the plate, Santa Maria scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Agusti scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Jacob Gonzalez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Eliel Olivo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
