Baseball Recap: Alameda Hornets vs. Piedmont Highlanders

Alameda had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Piedmont Highlanders by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 on Wednesday.

As for Piedmont, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games.

For Piedmont's part, Diego Delventhal was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Delventhal has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jonah Cha-Foster, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Alameda will head out to square off against Encinal at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Piedmont, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Oakland Tech at 12:00 p.m.
